A brand new blog...

Well - here begins my blogging life!

It's exciting to start to share lots of idea's, inspiration and latest sewing projects with the wider community. I'd love to talk about sewing...generally, (just because I love it!) re-fashioning existing clothing into fabulous new clothing, working with organic cotton and bamboo fabric and probably a lot more on kids clothing. As a new Mum to my gorgeous little son, I'm exploring a whole new world of sewing for babies & my toddler niece and nephew.

So to begin - here's a dress I've just completed for my little niece, Miss A, for her second birthday. I've had this gorgeous cotton quilting fabric for some time and have been waiting for just the right project. The blue-ish background and the purple foreground will suit Miss A perfectly.

It's a really simple A-line dress, with elastic along the top edge of the bodice and ties at the shoulders. I drafted a very basic pattern - altered from another tunic style dress I'd already used previously and based the sizing on one of the tops she currently wears. I'm really happy with how it's come up. I'm planning to make another dress for her - after all, a little girl can't have too many party dresses!
